Why Technology Excites Me

I started to immerse myself in technology back in the early 1990’s after I got my first laptop and started to connect to local BBS’s (Bulletin Board Systems) via dial up. I loved learning the new software applications and technologies as they emerged and how when applied correctly, could save an immense amount of time and effort in whatever you are doing. That interest and passion has carried on for the last 30 years.

Today I still get excited when I see how technology is used to improve the lives of people, whether in business or their personal lives. The potential is endless and when applied right, technology can help everyone achieve great things.

My Community

Born and raised in Barrie, Ontario Canada, I have had the privilege of creating strong roots in my local community over the years. While there are different kinds of communities, work, professional, personal and geographical, I find my biggest connection is through two primary sources.

As a member of the Rotary Club of Barrie for the past 23 years, I’ve been able to create strong friendships with like minded community focused people, and had the opportunity to give back by helping others in whatever way is needed.

My second community is through Special Olympics. I started volunteering with Special Olympics back in the mid 1990’s and it was one of the best things I ever did. The friendships with the Athletes and Volunteers over the years has been incredibly rewarding. I have gotten back so much more then I have ever given. If I can give one bit of advice, spend a couple hours volunteering with your local Special Olympics program. I 100% guarantee you will leave with a smile on your face and warmth in your heart.

My Personal Priorities / Hobbies

I have grown up with the motto “family comes first”. What I enjoy the most is doing something that involves family. Which is often travelling, going on adventures and spending time outdoors. For some people the idea of a family road trip can be unsettling but for me - it is what I live for. If I am not camping, backpacking, geocaching or road tripping then you might find me sipping a nice cab in my backyard or preparing for my next skiing adventure.
